Daeheungsa of Dooryoonsan - An Old Temple aged Thousands of Years

Daeheungsa is said to be founded by Adohwasang during King Jinheung of Silla Era and in the premises, Daewoongbojeon, Chimgyeroo, Myeongbujeon, Cheonbuljeon, Iljiam and Bukmireukam are located. In this temple, a lot of remains including Bronze Bell of Tapsansa, a national treasure No. 88 of Seosandaesa as well as Maeyeoraejoasang of Bukmireukam are exhibited in its remains exhibition hall.

Dooryoonsan

Dooryoonsan - The Last Mountain of Baedoodaegan

Dooryoonsan (703m) is a sacred summit of Haenam and constitutes 8 continued uneven peaks. To the northwest side, excellent scenery of gentle slope is provided and as the mountain terrain is not rough, visitors may climb up the summit of Garyeonbong within 2-3 hours.

Daeheungsa

Daeheungsa of Samhaebulip

As a temple having deep history located at the hillside of Dooryoonsan, this temple is said to be founded by Adohwasang in 14th year of King Mooryeong during Baekje Era. Daeheungsa is a temple where garments and alms bowl of Seosandaesa are preserved and in this temple, 13th Jongsa and 13th Gangsa were turned out. As one of main temples belonged to 22nd Gyo-gu, this temple was a birthplace of Buddhist culture in late Choseon Era.

Pyochoongsa

Pyochoongsa where breath of patriotism could be felt

Pyochoongsa is a king-donated temple where portrait of Seosandaesa is enshrined. When Imjinwoiran (Japanese invasion during Imjin year) broke out, he subjugated Japanese invaders at Soonan and Pyeongyang by recruiting 1500 private monk soldiers at Gwansuh and Haesuhyangdong while Yoojeong, his follower, recruited 700 warrior monks, Cheoyoung 1200 warrior monks in Honam, respectively. Pyochoongsa was built in 12th year of King Jeongjo of Choseon Era and portraits of Cheoyoung and Yoojeong, his followers as well as remains of Seosandaesa were enshrined there.

Historic Site of Gosan Yoon Seon-do

Gosan left a lot of poetry and prose reflecting mountain atmosphere or his own personal emotion while spending his rest of life in remote island or deep mountain under the condition of exile or secluded life. Old house of Yoon, Seon-do is frequented by many tourists as it keeps cultural heritage of Gosan and Family Yoon of Haenam well.

Remain Exhibition Hall of Gosan Yoon Seon-do

In this hall, app. 5,000 pieces of remains among poetry, prose and paintings of Gongje Yoon, Doo-seong who is grand-grandson of Gosan and mother's grandfather of Dasan are exhibited. Self portrait of Gongje is listed as the best portrait among portraits of Oriental people for its sharp observation and excellent portrayal. Family tree of Haenam Yoon's family turned out 3 great painters passing down to Naksuh, Gongje's son and Cheonggo, his grandson. Beauty painting portrayed by Cheonggo shows delicate and light beauty well.
