In Haenam having splendid nature and long historical, cultural heritage, festival and cultural event are held all year round. From the beginning of October, "Myeongryang Great Victory Festival" being held at Wooldolmok, Woosooyoung is positioned as the typical festival of Haenam and splendid spring of Haenam is addressed by holding "Ttanggut apricot festival" and "Heukseoksan Azalea Festival". In addition, in Songho beach, everybody enjoys culture and nature of Haenam to the full by holding "Ttanggut sunset festival" at year end and first day of new year together with diversified summer sea festival.
March Ttanggut Apricot Festival
On March every year, apricot farm with an area of app. 140,0000pyeong is fully bloomed with flowers and various flowers such as apricot, camellia flower and wild flower are competing their beauty. When wild flower starts to bloom in red clay field and red, green apricot are in full bloom, a lot of tourists visit this festival where nationwide photo shooting contest is held every year.
May Choeui Cultural Festival
This event is a cultural festival commemorating teaism of Choeuiseonsa who was a progenitor reviving tea culture of our country and this event would be held on August 2 by lunar calendar which is the date of his death since 1992. This event is held by substantially expanding existing tea ceremony after gathering at Iljiam, Daeheungsa where he stayed for more than 40 years.
May Heukseoksan Azalea Festival
Another name of Heukseoksan is Gahaksan. On May every year, red azalea is in full bloom at ridges of Garijae and Gitdaebong. With this view as backdrop, azalea festival is held at Gahaksan natural recreation forest.
End of September - October Myeongryang Great Victory Festival
In order to provide a ground of consensus by commemorating historic significance of great victory of immortal General Lee, Soon-shin that is unprecedented in the world naval battle history and reviving its spirit up to the present, self-confidence of county citizens was enhanced by sublimating its event as a typical festival of county citizens and it has been positioned as a typical festival since 2008.
December 31-January 1. Ttanggut Sunset, Sunrise Festival
On the occasion of a new year, a start of hope, after seeing old year off at Ttanggut village, a starting point of national land, diversified and meaningful sharing event by which county citizens and tourists become united as one is held. This place is a nationally listed site where sunrise and sunset could be watched at one location.
